Tender moment between
6 years old Rémi and his new friend Téva
- The association’s goal is to donate dogs to children who have impediments, in order to improve the childs independence and quality of life.
- A puppy is given to a child according to its needs and once a natural affinity has been recognised between child and dog. Following the final training session, the child will be partnered with their working/companion dog. The dog then being ultimately adopted by the family at an official presentation ceremony.
- The dog will be a constant companion to the child in order to help him to overcome his anguish. It will be able to alert the child’s family circle, asking for help, should the child need it. Two children are not identical and do not have the same requirements. Likewise, each dog has it's own personality and character.
- Our aim is not to shape the "standard” dogs, nor adapt the child to the dog. Our educators carefully select the canine companion, enabling child and dog to be as one, a partnership. For example, should the child be unable to speak, communication between child and dog will not be inhibited, as the dogs education incorporates hand-signals !
- This comprehensive training, enables the dog to be far more beneficial in it's usefulness, making it more effective to the requirements of the child. Whatever the demands : independence, language, motor functions… The dog and the child will work in harmony.
- The school maintains contact with the child, family and medical staff. Additional training sessions are organized following placement of the dog, and for the entirety of the partnership between child and dog.
Of course, our dogs are precious companions
but they can do one miracle: love unconditionally
